Simon Hania is Data Protection Officer at Uber. Simon joins Hania joins from Dutch digital mapping company TomTom NV, where he was vice president of privacy & security, and focused on connected and autonomous vehicles, and wearable technologies. Hania, reports directly to Uber’s chief legal officer, is there to make sure Uber complies with EU privacy laws. The company previously used an outside firm in the Netherlands to handle this job. Hania is Uber’s first DPO hire.
Simon Hania finalized in 1989 Computer Sciences at the Universiteit Twente. Following various management roles with KPN, he started in 2008 with TomTom in various roles. In 2014 he became Vice President Privacy & Security / Corporate Privacy Officer bij TomTom. He started with Uber in 2018.
